Web Accessibility
In 1995 a new era of accessibility for disabled people began. The DDA
(Disability Discrimination Act) was passed, stating that:
“It's unlawful for a service provider to discriminate against
a disabled person by refusing to provide any service which it provides
to members of the public.”
In the eyes of this law, a website is regarded as a service. The RNIB
(Royal National Institute for the Blind) and DRC (Disability Rights
Commission) have been pushing hard to make companies adhere to this
law. The RNIB has already approached two large companies regarding their
websites, when they raised the accessibility issues of the websites
under the DDA, both companies made the necessary changes
CKX Design is offering accessible sites as standard where possible,
ensuring that potential customers will not be discriminated against.
